Public Preparedness
There is a lot of
pre-existing information on the Internet regarding how the public
should prepare for disasters. We are not going to attempt to
recreate what is already on the Internet. Here are a few tips:
Develop a preparedness
plan and kit for being in the car and at home. Make sure your
children know what to do and who to contact. Have a contact
outside of your state if possible that everyone should contact.
This lessens the chance that the contact will be involved in the
same disaster.
Your home disaster kit
should have supplies to last you at least 72 hours without outside
help. Remember that prescription medication is very important,
don't forget to stash some. Make sure to check up on your kit
periodically, like every six months.
