Storm Chase

Central Oklahoma

Editor:  Putnam Reiter

The Chase -

Team 1 - Rob Ferguson and Putnam Reiter
Miles Driven - @80
Departure Time - 15:00 CDT
Return Time - 21:00 CDT

Storms approached the Oklahoma City area along a cold front.  We decided to head west to El Reno and watch them as they approached.  Sitting near I-40 and Highway 81, we watched the storms for several hours.  Eventually we decided to head north to intercept the incoming squall line.  Doing so we got into just a little bit of rain.  So, we turned south on Hefner Parkway from Kilpartrick Turnpike.  Around I-44 we got ahead of the storms and drove on to Will Rogers World Airport.  Sitting just east of the airport on Portland, we waited for the storms to approach.  Eventually we got some small hail that made it to dime size.  Once the storms past us, we had dinner and went home.
