Storm Chase

Western Oklahoma

Editor:  Putnam Reiter

The Chase -

Team 1 - Rob Ferguson and Putnam Reiter
Miles Driven - 200
Departure Time - 14:30 CDT
Return Time - 19:00 CDT

We traveled out I-40 during the early afternoon.  The setup looked decent, however there was extensive cloud cover across much of the area.  As we got west the cloud cover thinned and the temperature warmed some.  We got to Clinton and decided to stage there.  There was an area of favored cloud development, however little became of it during the time we watched it.  Closer to sunset the development stopped.  We turned around and came home.

Lessons Learned -

Another iffy day, forecasting can be blamed per usual with this year.

Encounters -

Engaged Storm:  No
Tornado:  No
Funnel:  No
Hail (larger than 0.75 inches):  No
Wall Cloud:  No
Wind (above 57.4 mph):  No
